Again one of the more difficult cars to deliver a high quality job on due to the extensive amount of small pieces and lots of sharp details. In this short article I wanted to talk about the things we think about as a shop to deliver the best PPF job possible. One of the notable details about this PPF job is that the rear trunk lid is done in 1 piece which is more difficult to do and requires a custom size roll of PPF in order to cover the whole panel in 1 piece.
With every PPF job, our main priority is to achieve maximum surface coverage as well as the cleanest look possible so that edges of the PPF are hidden and as a customer you do not notice that the car even has PPF on it. One of the ways we make it happen is by rolling the film over the edge on panels that are tightly connected to each other.
For example, the photo below shows a fender to bumper connection on this Z06 corvette. What we do here is we roll the PPF material over so that the edge of the PPF with adhesive is pointed down towards the gap, this makes it virtually invisible to the one looking straight at it. We also post heat this edge in order to “shrink” the film into that shape and make sure it does not lift in the future.
Finally, we think of all the little details of every car that comes to our shop, this Z06 has a carbon fiber lip which we protected in PPF from the top and from the bottom to ensure the customer is fully covered from impacts and even light scraping. The difference between good PPF shops and the best PPF shops in Austin, TX lies in the details and the details is what we obsess about here at Silverstone Auto Spa.
